At one time, humanity became so obsessed with astrology that it neglected Dharma. So, Manjushri – the Wisdom Buddha -- barred the gateway to its knowledge. The result was egocentric chaos. In his compassion, Manjushri unbarred the gate saying that, in spite of its vulnerability to selfish use, astrology can create a vital bridge between samsara (the world of illusion) and Buddha mind.
We are born in samsara, because we are attached to one or more of the 84,000 delusions. When we take refuge in Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, practice renunciation and dedicate with bodhicitta (loving kindness), astrology can help us identify these deluded attachments. We step outside ourselves and look at the karmic patterns underlying our behavior. Then we can let go, purify and release the blocks to our Dharmic progress.
A full comparison of your birth chart – showing the Sun, Moon and other planetary positions at the location, date and time of your birth -- can reveal your karma due to ripen. Here, we focus on interpreting the Sun in each of the twelve signs of the Zodiac. Of course, there are dramatic differences within these Sun-sign groups - just as there are among national, racial and cultural groups. Many individuals may have more in common with members of astrological signs other than their own, but there are certain experiences shared by virtually everyone in the same sign. So, in some way or other, all Aries people have to deal with impulsiveness, Taureans with possessiveness, Geminis with constantly chattering minds, Cancers with over-protectiveness, Leos with personal recognition, Virgos with responsibility, Libras with insecurity, Scorpios with desire, Sagittarians with freedom, Capricorns with authority, Aquarians with arrogance and Pisceans with over-reaction.
