Beginnings: History in the making

This photograph, found in the collection of the late Ven. Andrea Antonietti, was taken on the day of the Tibetan New Year in 1970 by the late Terry Clifford, who wrote Tibetan Buddhist Medicine and Psychiatry: The Diamond Healing, published by Samuel Weiser

This was at a time when an enthusiastic group was forming around Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche. Before they moved to Kopan, the lamas were living at Samten Ling Monastery in Bouddha, Nepal, while their Western entourage lived at Double Dorje House, near Bouddha.
