Calling all young photographers. Win prizes!
Calling all young photographers. Win prizes!

If you are under 30 and a keen shutter-bug, this is an invitation to show our readers how peace and loving-kindness can be seen through the lens.
We are looking for images by young people. Why? Because Lama Zopa Rinpoche has initiated a brand new international non-profit peace organization for youth called LKPY: Loving Kindness Peaceful Youth. Its aim is to promote peace inside and out, and it will be launched in Australia in mid-2007 with events involving Nobel Peace Prize Winner His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Lama Zopa Rinpoche, rock bands, and lots of young people.
The subject for your photos is very simple, but also very wide-ranging: no restrictions, other than the photos should show an aspect of peace or loving-kindness to sentient beings – any aspect seen through the eyes of a young person. Let your imagination run wild and see your photo(s) published in Mandala and on the internet. Plus you could win a Shakyamuni Buddha portable altar kit, a DVD of ‘Discovering Buddhism’ and a one-year subscription to Mandala. The competition will continue until the launch of LKPY, with nominations for the final prize published in each issue, so it’s a floating deadline. Selections for the next issue need to be in by October 10.

The submissions will be judged by a leading U.S. photographer, John Berthold, whose superb pictorial book Bhutan: Land of the Thunder Dragon is published by Wisdom Publications.
