Mystery at Osel Labrang
Some months ago my rabbit Drolma had two baby rabbits – one back and one white. The black one vanished in two or three weeks and the white one is called Drol-kar. The father was killed after one month but we did not know how.
A week ago we found one of Drolma’s legs in the yard and when we investigated we found that the killer was my dog, Peme Hum. He has been disciplined by being tied up for some days and the remaining rabbit put in a safer location.
Vacation in Spain
Lama Osel visited his mother, brothers and sisters in Spain for a month just before Christmas.
Return of the Gardener
Subedi, our Nepali gardener, returned to Osel Labrang after a two and a half month vacation with his parents in Nepal. While he was gone, the garden became very messy and the plants were dry and untrimmed.
As soon as he returned, the garden began to bloom again.
Bulletin!
Computer Gadgets – When George returned from a break in the States, he brought back a small digital camera for the computer, which we used for this issue. Peter Kedge also offered Lama a new color printer.
Good News and Bad News
Good News – Some newspaper reporters and their photographers came recently from New York and London to do stories about Lama Osel for the New York Times Sunday Magazine and the London Telegraph Sunday Magazine.
Bad News – Tsering the blind deer has become very angry recently but we don’t know why.
Teachers Note
George reports that lama is setting down slowly to some serious study. He has enjoyed his history lessons this year about prehistoric men, the Sumerians, Egyptians and the Aztec civilization.
Lama likes to read – currently “My Side of the Mountain,” a story of a young boy living out on his own in the mountains. Lama doesn’t like the fact that the boy in the story kills animals to live. He wrote recently: “I would be a vegetarian because I don’t like to kill animals.”
