Lama Osel’s News
Lama Osel on the Move
Lama Osel was on the move from his home at Sera Monastery to Kopan Monastery, Nepal, to Dharamsala, India, and finally to Bodhgaya before returning to Sera late in March.
Birthday at Kopan
Lama Osel had a nice celebration of his eleventh birthday at Kopan Monastery in Kathmandu, Nepal, on February twelfth. Lunch was served for all the residents and some journalists appeared at the end. Lama and Pemba stayed four days before leaving for the next destination.
Ordination and teachings
Lama traveled to Dharamsala, India, to receive the Novice (Getsul) Ordination from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, but unfortunately was one day late. The time was well spent, however, since Lama had a personal audience with His Holiness and also attended the lam-rim teachings given by the Dalai Lama to thousands of disciples.
Bhumi Puja
There was another pilgrimage – this one to the holy place of Bodhgaya – for the ceremonial blessing of the land (Bhumi Puja) for the future statue of Maitreya Buddha and to meet with his guru, Lama Zopa Rinpoche. There, Lama also met with other high lamas including Chobgye Trichen Rinpoche.
Peaceful Deer
We recently cut the antlers of our deer, Tsering, and he is much more peaceful now. We think that may be the solution to the mystery of why Tsering was angry recently.
